I have been holding out jumping on the phone wagon. My 2010 flip phone has been an old friend. I have had it for 5 years. I never needed the smartphone since I have an iPad2 and a newish MacBook Pro. I was out of my 2 year plan with Verizon for 3 years now. It took that long to decide what to do.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">But the 'ol Flip phone was starting to fail at receiving calls and messages. It just couldn't keep up with technology. </span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">So when Verizon offered the iPhone 5c for free I decided to jump on board. Yeah I know, the cost isn't in the phone, it's in the monthly charges. I'm ok with the extra cost. I hate it but the phone companies have us by the neck.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEirhu8EM6vbzKkzwk3PV6tMGx2PS6d8kgEbzadEGp7lR0ujbxbtCdV0m9hn6CfYVr5dD2sRnpe-U-43lPw7TXrpG1LMZm8vV5NZiN9w0A98Q2HZC9Ux9cXUW_8fu_x1XY2Gs_GTeqz5uH4/s1600/IMG_2537.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEirhu8EM6vbzKkzwk3PV6tMGx2PS6d8kgEbzadEGp7lR0ujbxbtCdV0m9hn6CfYVr5dD2sRnpe-U-43lPw7TXrpG1LMZm8vV5NZiN9w0A98Q2HZC9Ux9cXUW_8fu_x1XY2Gs_GTeqz5uH4/s1600/IMG_2537.JPG" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">She is very pretty. I love how Apple packages their products. Everything is smooth, snug and simple. I just love it. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Look at this darling little box that they put the ear-buds in.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Can you believe how cute this is? They sound amazing too. But that box and the way they wind the cables so nicely. What other company pays attention to the details like this?</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjxOo8t03LPAKpg-HBdBmOXUv2F0iCFibmDaZUMJQ079lSzgdKQai1pwZ0QjoB7x4644UmKolXXVzXsqVcSwEkXe4gNyWvTTvmbLxTmz-S0Dcl4j2D-xq4p9cWdhQqVarFpjgzWerodBnc/s1600/IMG_2535.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjxOo8t03LPAKpg-HBdBmOXUv2F0iCFibmDaZUMJQ079lSzgdKQai1pwZ0QjoB7x4644UmKolXXVzXsqVcSwEkXe4gNyWvTTvmbLxTmz-S0Dcl4j2D-xq4p9cWdhQqVarFpjgzWerodBnc/s1600/IMG_2535.JPG" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">The only part I don't like is the time to get it set up how I want.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">I am familiar with how it all works since it is so similar to the iPad.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">FedX came early this morning and delivered my FREE iPhone. I tried to follow the instructions to set it up but since my Flip-phone was older I needed a Verizon store to transfer my contacts. So I drive the 23 miles to the next town. I tell the guy to activate my new phone and de-activate the old one. He was very nice. Did the transfer thing. Then I went and did a little shopping around town with my new phone in my pocket. I felt like a million dollars. I was hoping someone would call me. Nope, the phone was silent.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">So when I get home I want to hear the phone ring. So I call it with my landline. Long story short I discover that the phone was not activated and the old one was still working. I had to call Verizon and wait, wait, wait, wait and then a nice lady helped me.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Now everything is going good. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">I also took my first photo and started an Instagram account for the first time. Everything is new to me with this new iPhone.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Here is my first Instagram photo</span></div>

It seemed like it was almost the same color as my skin. I hate that. So I went to the Family Dollar store and bought some hair color. I got a cheap brand, not my usual Garnier Nutrisse. Big mistake. I colored my hair yesterday. I wanted a spicy color. Sort of a light brown with auburn highlights. Like I had when I was in my 20's, 30's, and 40's. So I dyed it Saturday evening.</span><br />
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/27236876@N03/15564715228" title="Carol's RED hair Nov 9-14 001 by Carol Hoover, on Flickr"><img alt="Carol's RED hair Nov 9-14 001" height="480" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3946/15564715228_51c121f662.jpg" width="500" /></a><br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Wow!!! it was Orangie-Red. I didn't like it. I think the top layer of my hair before dyeing was lighter blonde from the sun. That part turned orange like a carrot. Really wild.<br />It was not a good idea to experiment on my hair the night before Sunday morning Church. I was too embarrassed to go to church like that. It was so bright orange when I was outside.<br />The first thing I did on Sunday morning is drive to the dollar store and buy some good hair color. My favorite<span style="font-family: Times, Times New Roman, serif;"> </span><span style="color: #404040; line-height: 18px;"><span style="font-family: Times, Times New Roman, serif;">Garnier Nutrisse. I didn't know how to tame that carrot top color but I knew maybe </span></span><br /><span style="color: #404040; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif; line-height: 18px;">something with ash in it would calm down that orange. But ash could turn my hair green or even purple. You never know with hair color that has ash in it. The box didn't say ash but I could tell from the girl's photo on the box. Anyway, I bought #93 which is Champagne. I mixed up the color and put it on the top half of my head. I kinda wanted to have that spark of reddish orange on the under parts of my hair. And really the lower part of my hair didn't go orange but I nice light auburn.</span><br /><span style="color: #404040; font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif; line-height: 18px;">Well the experiment came out good. It could be a smidge darker. But I do like it. I'm not sure the photos show much difference but believe me. The first dye attempt was very very orange and bright.</span></span></div>
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/27236876@N03/15753330242" title="Carol's hair color fix 01 by Carol Hoover, on Flickr"><img alt="Carol's hair color fix 01" height="500" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3945/15753330242_91930749f4.jpg" width="467" /></a><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">Above is the final result. It does look how my hair looked many years ago. I like it. I know with each wash it will get lighter but that is ok as long as I don't see that neon orange color. </span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>

I will tell you why in a moment.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: large;">I moved one year ago from Highland/Yucaipa Calif. (southern California) to southeastern Idaho. I live in a tiny town of 5,000 people now.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: large;">I moved to American Falls, ID. and I love it. We get all the seasons here. No more 5 months of sweltering heat.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: large;">I love the snow. I love the frost. I love the autumn that we are having now.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhvdrHpiguC5bcEP0yjLkP15wTKTgQyTH7IxeRaOX9VQmJQSXHyyBjuUNam_Y3nXGDcI-QJ-XziSatrGlOtPJFDcDcKLPcVy8vYLkmWhmxKTwBOQ69fVxXDmSv08jtj7Vt92OE3GGPhFIg/s1600/Corn+Maze+in+Blackfoot+ID+07.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhvdrHpiguC5bcEP0yjLkP15wTKTgQyTH7IxeRaOX9VQmJQSXHyyBjuUNam_Y3nXGDcI-QJ-XziSatrGlOtPJFDcDcKLPcVy8vYLkmWhmxKTwBOQ69fVxXDmSv08jtj7Vt92OE3GGPhFIg/s1600/Corn+Maze+in+Blackfoot+ID+07.jpg" height="240" width="320" /></a></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: large;">Last weekend we went to a corn maze in Blackfoot ID. It was fun. This is my son and his wife.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: large;">We took the girls, my granddaughter and my kids nieces.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: large;">It was a beautiful autumn day. Warm. The trees are turning.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: large;">Already we have had ice on the birdbath in the morning.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: large;">I bought a house here that needed so much renovations. It took a long time. But I am settled in now. I need to go plant my tulip, daffodil and crocus bulbs so that I have flowers in the early spring. This is great since I could not grow tulips in SoCal. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: large;">Now the reason why I didn't blog for 1 1/2 years. I was busy with the move but it was because after having this blog to call my own for a few years it changed. One day my granddaughter wanted an email. We decided to go with gmail. When I finished signing her up everything in my computer was put into her account. Blogger was the worse. It won't let me change ownership back to me. It shows her email as my user name. She is just a little girl too. So I stopped blogging. I was so mad. All my searches of what to do came up empty. The chat boards for help all said that Blogger doesn't have a way to let one select which email is the primary on Blogger. Blogger will select their gmail as the default. You can't change it. I think Goggle is very invasive. I don't have a gmail account myself. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: large;">Anyway, that is why I stopped blogging. I want to come back. I will just have to over look that my user name is a childs email address. Grrrrr</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>

<span style="font-size: large;">This last week I had a very happy time going to have a pedicure with my granddaughter Peanut. We sat in the spa chairs and they massaged our feet & calves. They also put my feet in paraffin wax to soften my feet. I am a barefoot kind of gal. It was a wonderful way to spend an hour. Afterwards my feet felt like new.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">Look here.....</span><br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/27236876@N03/8695500511/" title="IMG_0252 by clstables, on Flickr"><img alt="IMG_0252" height="480" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8393/8695500511_a379b7d8be_z.jpg" width="640" /></a><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">Peanut got pink with zebra stripes where as I got a neon aqua.</span><br />

<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">I don't know why I waited 57 years before getting my first pedi. I have had about 4 of them now. It does make a difference where you go. The last place made my toes hurt. I think their tools were not clean and gave me an infection. But this last place was very clean but expensive. BUT no infection or hurting toes.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">I love my AQUA toes!!!!!</span>Carolhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00751487491521233299noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5570784815747109103.post-56907837564559590242013-04-16T15:11:00.000-07:002013-04-16T15:11:10.579-07:0052 Weeks of Happy 5/52<span style="font-size: large;">Week 5 of 52. I think I skipped a week in there.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">I have been so busy and my life is up and down. That is why I am Dancing in the Dark! hahaha</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">What makes me happy? This week is is picking paint colors. I have decided to paint the inside of my home. I will hire a painter since my ceilings are so high and I hate prepping for paint.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">Right now my living room looks like this:</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">The mantle</span><br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/27236876@N03/6869911490/" title="Mantel Vase 02 by clstables, on Flickr"><img alt="Mantel Vase 02" height="480" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7054/6869911490_09fed93f97_z.jpg" width="640" /></a><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">The walls in the living room are caramel tan, green and red. </span><br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/27236876@N03/3021484888/" title="Selbuvotter Mittens NHM #3 by clstables, on Flickr"><img alt="Selbuvotter Mittens NHM #3" height="480" src="http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3038/3021484888_466e6fdfed_z.jpg" width="640" /></a><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">Here is the green wall. It is seen from the living room but it is the hallway.</span><br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/27236876@N03/2939766432/" title="Alexis in Pumpkin Hat 01 by clstables, on Flickr"><img alt="Alexis in Pumpkin Hat 01" height="640" src="http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3155/2939766432_02396cdc9d_z.jpg" width="513" /></a><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">I'll get better photos later. My bedroom, bathroom, kitchen and dinning room are all white. Boring!!!</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">The colors that I want to paint these rooms are Cream, gray/with blue tones, and maybe a pop of teal on the island. The island has Corian counter tops. They are off white with speckles of blue, dark yellow, dark blue, red. It really is pretty. It is called Fiesta.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">It looks like this</span><br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/27236876@N03/6063321013/" title="Apple & Tomato 02 by clstables, on Flickr"><img alt="Apple & Tomato 02" height="480" src="http://farm7.staticflickr.com/6182/6063321013_2f588e7b18_z.jpg" width="640" /></a><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">The colors I picked make me happy. They are light and beachy. The other colors are nice but they darken at night and feel heavy. They are cozy and cabin feeling. I need light and airy now.</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">Happy week 5 to everyone!!!</span><br />
<br />

Peanut and I went to church on Saturday night so on Sunday we took Bob to the elementary school. They have a huge grass area for the kids to play.</span><br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/27236876@N03/8606875211/" title="Easter 2013 HIghland Grove 09 by clstables, on Flickr"><img alt="Easter 2013 HIghland Grove 09" height="480" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8125/8606875211_2a7f2d79b6_z.jpg" width="640" /></a><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">Look at this beautiful day. The school is called Highland Grove Elementary. There use to be orange groves in this area of Highland. This is not where Peanut goes to school. She attends Cram Elementary.</span><br />

<span style="font-size: large;">The mountains were so beautiful. The day was warm with a slight breeze. We got a little sunburn. By 4 pm the clouds covered the sky and it looked like rain. </span><br />

<span style="font-size: large;">Peanut practiced her kickball moves. She is really good. We had a lot of fun kicking the ball. This was a white ball and she colored it. It is beautiful.</span><br />

<span style="font-size: large;">Since there were very few people there Bob was allowed to be free and run till he was too tired to run. We brought his tennis ball and he chased it over and over. What a cute dog.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">Peanut put him on the leash in order to get him to go down the slide. He is not fond of the slide. hehehe</span><br />

<span style="font-size: large;">This day made us happy. We would have loved to spend it with our loved one but everyone was busy. Some of the invites from loved one were too sfar away to go to. My sister had to work on Easter! darn Chevy dealership. Grrrr. </span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">But church was lovely saturday night. We worshiped our Lord and that he rose on the 3rd day. He LIVES!!!!</span><br />

<span style="font-size: large;">Something that makes me happy is sunsets. I love to see them and I love to take photos of them.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">Here is a sunset in Highland. I only walked to the corner where I wouldn't have a house in my way. Nature is the frame. What I mean is the dark area above are the black clouds. The trees frame the sides and the hills frame the bottom. It was an amazing night.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">This is a December 2012 sunset.</span><br />

<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">Here is a sunset from January 2012. We were on our way to church. This is in Highland looking towards Redlands.</span><br />

<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">Here is an almost sunset at Redondo Beach. I am saying:</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">PRAISE THE LORD!!!</span><br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/27236876@N03/4493834576/" title="Praise the LORD by clstables, on Flickr"><img alt="Praise the LORD" height="375" src="http://farm3.staticflickr.com/2791/4493834576_9369fded37.jpg" width="500" /></a><br />

Once each week for a year I will post something that made me happy that week. This will give inspiration to me to blog more. I have been very lazy in my posting.<br />
<br />
Spinning with friends makes me happy. I went to the spinning group and started this braid of Falkland wool. Is is so pretty spun up. I am about 1/3 of the way into this. I am trying to spin thin so that I can get a sport weight yarn.<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/27236876@N03/8535163269/" title="Split Rock Ranch - Falkland Violet by clstables, on Flickr"><img alt="Split Rock Ranch - Falkland Violet" height="318" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8525/8535163269_8ebe9a6042.jpg" width="500" /></a><br />
<br />
<br />
Last week we got more snow. This photo is from a few weeks ago but the mountains look the same.<br />
I try to enjoy the green color on our mountains because in a few months they will be dry and brown.<br />
In the lower mid-section of the photo is a large orange grove. I live to the right of the grove. My backyard is next to this grove. In April when the trees begin to bloom the air is so sweet.<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/27236876@N03/8493915484/" title="Highland snow 2-20-2013 3 by clstables, on Flickr"><img alt="Highland snow 2-20-2013 3" height="375" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8381/8493915484_329b36f06e.jpg" width="500" /></a><br />
<br />
And lastly here is a knitting project that is making me very happy. This is lace. I am knitting with lace weight yarn. It is like knitting with string. My yarn is 50% merino wool and %50 silk. It is so soft and beautiful. I have knit shawls before but nothing so detailed. So this is my first lace shawl in lace weight. I am loving it. I did start and rip out 3 times. But now it is going very good.<br />
The red thread is my life line. That is incase I make a mistake or drop a stitch and can't fix it. Then I can undo the shawl back to the red thread and go from there.<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/27236876@N03/8493908368/" title="Bee Fields Shawl to row 20 by clstables, on Flickr"><img alt="Bee Fields Shawl to row 20 " height="438" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8518/8493908368_64b0b35af8.jpg" width="500" /></a><br />
<br />
So there is week one of Happy. <br />
Join in if you like. <br />
God Bless, CarolCarolhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00751487491521233299noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5570784815747109103.post-30855580473864376392012-10-30T14:43:00.000-07:002012-10-30T14:45:50.115-07:00Red Rugosa Rose-hips with long Sepals<br />
This is week #2 of my online class with the theme Autumn.<br />
I love this weeks assignment. As soon as I saw the big red hips with the long skirt-like sepals I knew this was the picture I wanted to paint.<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/27236876@N03/8139398794/" title="Red Rosehips FAV 01 by clstables, on Flickr"><img alt="Red Rosehips FAV 01" height="415" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8045/8139398794_70cdc08636.jpg" width="500" /></a><br />
<br />
I did some color swatching. I also tested my inks for bleeding:<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/27236876@N03/8139383763/" title="Reds Swatch 01 by clstables, on Flickr"><img alt="Reds Swatch 01" height="229" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8053/8139383763_5b7e5e9736.jpg" width="500" /></a><br />
<br />
Then I drew in ink for 30 min. This is how far I got. It was fun using the ink.<br />
I used my TWSBI 540 pen and my free Noodlers pen. The ink is Noodler's The Heart of Darkness.<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/27236876@N03/8139420782/" title="Red Rosehips lines FAV by clstables, on Flickr"><img alt="Red Rosehips lines FAV" height="375" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8188/8139420782_560cd61b1e.jpg" width="500" /></a><br />
<br />
I worked on my center of interest first. I tend to paint the thing that catches my eye. Those rose hips really caught my eye. I have learned that if I am interested the painting will be interesting. If I am bored the painting will be boring to look at. So that is why I will paint the thing that gets the juices flowing. I just love the long sepals on these hips too.<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/27236876@N03/8139416270/" title="Red Rosehips 02 by clstables, on Flickr"><img alt="Red Rosehips 02" height="375" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8475/8139416270_446bb95da6.jpg" width="500" /></a><br />
<br />
I wanted to get that glow that I saw in the photo and my watercolor paints didn't have that for me. So I took out my little glass yogurt jars that I got in France and put some ink, since this was an ink project after all, and diluted it with some water. I had one little jar that I let it be watery mud.<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/27236876@N03/8139415360/" title="Inks & water set up 01 by clstables, on Flickr"><img alt="Inks & water set up 01" height="375" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8475/8139415360_c544c430cd.jpg" width="500" /></a><br />
<br />
I continued to work from the center out. I did more ink work in black and then added some white ink. I would work a while and then set this painting on my mantel for the evening. Then I would just look over to it now and then. It is helpful to me to do this because I can see what my marching orders are for the next day when I will paint. I have to back up and view my work from a distance to really see what it needs.<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/27236876@N03/8139391797/" title="Red Rosehips progress 01 by clstables, on Flickr"><img alt="Red Rosehips progress 01" height="436" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8476/8139391797_9a30ecec9b.jpg" width="500" /></a><br />
<br />
So in the end I took the painting outside and took her photo. I tried different places in the yard, sometimes with the painting laying flat on the lawn, and sometimes sitting up on a table. It's strange how the colors change depending on the lighting of the yard. I can see it when I upload the photos.<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/27236876@N03/8139368891/" title="Red Rosehips FAV 02 by clstables, on Flickr"><img alt="Red Rosehips FAV 02" height="405" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8333/8139368891_179707d4b5.jpg" width="500" /></a><br />
<br />
I painted a black ink border around the painting too.<br />
This was a fun assignment. I really enjoyed it.Carolhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00751487491521233299noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5570784815747109103.post-89843875459909868052012-10-19T18:18:00.000-07:002012-10-19T18:28:13.447-07:00Painting Autumn Leaves<br />
I decided to use a photo that I had taken of leaves from my tree. I took this years ago. These are maple leaves of green, red and yellow.<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/27236876@N03/8104080705/" title="Autumn Leaves IVTA 2012 by clstables, on Flickr"><img alt="Autumn Leaves IVTA 2012" height="382" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8332/8104080705_c84eebf832.jpg" width="500" /></a><br />
<br />
In the first 30 min. I sketched out the leaves and started to paint.<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/27236876@N03/8104081554/" title="IVTA- Au Glow Leaf 30min by clstables, on Flickr"><img alt="IVTA- Au Glow Leaf 30min" height="240" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8468/8104081554_ac04780843_n.jpg" width="320" /></a><br />
<br />
Here is my painting set up:<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/27236876@N03/8104081928/" title="IVTA- Au Glow Leaf 30min2 by clstables, on Flickr"><img alt="IVTA- Au Glow Leaf 30min2" height="375" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8475/8104081928_c1b3d9f4c8.jpg" width="500" /></a><br />
<br />
I didn't want to paint the main leaf as red as the photo since we were working on Gold. Yet I wanted to keep the contrasts of the 3 leaves. I have to say, the camera doesn't pick up the lights and darks of the red colors. In person one can see more values in the colors.<br />
I spent the afternoon painting. I was enjoying getting back into painting again. It was so peaceful and relaxing.<br />
<br />
<br />
The actual painting size is 6.75" X 5" on cold press watercolor paper.<br />
This photo came out much brighter (neon) than the paint is in real life.<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/27236876@N03/8104146075/" title="IVTA Au Glow Leaf FAV01 by clstables, on Flickr"><img alt="IVTA Au Glow Leaf FAV01" height="362" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8323/8104146075_01d86306d5.jpg" width="500" /></a><br />
<br />
<br />
Then I took a black and white photo of my painting to see the values.<br />

Well I am painting on a large oil painting. A few years back I painted a watercolor of a lady dancing which I really loved. I don't have this painting right now. It was given to a friend in Mexico. I wish I had the original but I do have a photo of it. I love the bright colors.</span><br />

ON THE EASEL<br />
<br />
<br />
<span style="color: blue; font-size: large;">I'm also painting an abstract. This is fun to paint. I can paint for an hour and then leave the work for a month and still be able to come back to it. The size is 14" X 10.5" This is in progress......</span><br />

<br />
<span style="color: blue; font-size: large;">Above the whole painting, below a close up of the picky work I love to do.</span><br />

<br />
<span style="color: purple; font-size: large;">Speaking of picky work. Below is a drawing in pencil and ink that I have been working on for a couple years. I love doing the small detail drawing. I'm the same with my knitting, cross stitch and even as a dental technician. I like picky work. </span><br />

<span style="color: blue; font-size: large;">This drawing is 14" X 11"</span><br />
<span style="color: blue; font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: blue; font-size: large;">So that is what I am currently working on.</span><br />
<span style="color: blue; font-size: large;">Today I begin some new watercolor painting. I will share this soon.</span><br />

<b><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-weight: normal;"><span class="Apple-style-span">mmm...my first post. I am still figuring out how this works. I am familiar with posting blogs on MySpace. But I am having problems figuring out how to insert photos. I tried for an hour and no luck. It shouldn't be this hard. Here we are...</span><br /><br /><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #e7dfcf; font-size: 14px;"><img src="http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b164/purpletoothtech/Fairies06.jpg" /></span><br /><br /><span class="Apple-style-span">We were dressed for Halloween. On this night 10/31/06 my daughter was taking the photo. I do not understand why she was the one person out of hundreds or thousands who would die by a gunshot. We are not gun people. I never had handguns in the house ever, never in all my life. She only had that gun in her house for 3 weeks before a fight broke out between her and her boyfriend. No one is sure what happened. The police think the boyfriend is responsible. The coroner put gun shot wound to the head. But it is the boyfriends word of what happened on that day. Peanut saw and heard the fight. She was watching from her room when the gun went off. I think her dad was blocking her view of the gun so she only knows what he told her happened. She was only 5 years old. What a horrible tragedy to have in a young girls life.</span><br /><br /><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #e7dfcf; font-size: 14px;"><img src="http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b164/purpletoothtech/IM0001561.jpg" /></span><br /><br />This beautiful granddaughter is living with me now. I am in a guardianship case trying to get full custody. For more than a year I have been in and out of court. I finally got Temporary custody on 10/30/2007. What a long wait.<br />It is not an easy road. Peanut is in therapy now. We are both grieving so much. But we are having good times. We took a trip to Idaho 2 weeks ago. My son Dustin, her uncle, got married. He lives in Idaho. Peanut and I have a goal to move to Idaho before the end of this year.<br /><br />My new love is WOOL and KNITTING!!!!! more on that in the next blog.<br /><br />Today and everyday, I thank God for carrying me this far in my grief journey. He has taken my burden. On days that I have a very heavy heart is usually when I have not looked at the LORD to give him praise for blessing me with my children, Peanut, a home, food, clothing, love and good friends. I have a lot to be thankful for.<br /><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/27236876@N03/2869123188/" title="Richard and Carol by clstables, on Flickr"><img alt="Richard and Carol" height="181" src="http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3219/2869123188_15dc63ec4e.jpg" width="262" /></a></span></b><br />

May 27, 2008 <b>First Felted Hat</b><br />
<b><br /></b>
<b><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-weight: normal;">I am very new to knitting. I began at the end of March 2008. I jumped into "Wool" with a hat I made. It was not knitted, it was crocheted.<br />I wanted to see if I could tackle felting. So I stuck to crocheting since I have been doing that since I was about 7 years old. I crocheted this hat our of Paton's wool.<br /><br /><br /><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #e7dfcf; font-size: 14px;"><img height="480" src="http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b164/purpletoothtech/Crochethatbeforefelting-2.jpg" width="640" /></span><br /><br />I crocheted it larger than I wanted the finished product. Here is it before felting on my 6yr. old granddaughters head.<br /><br /><br /><br /><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #e7dfcf; font-size: 14px;"><img src="http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b164/purpletoothtech/WoolHat.jpg" /></span><br /><br />Then I washed it in the machine on hot inside of a pillow case. I then let it dry stretched over a glass container since I didn't have any other form to put it on.<br /><br /><br /><br /><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #e7dfcf; font-size: 14px;"><img height="480" src="http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b164/purpletoothtech/IMG_0501.jpg" width="640" /></span><br /><br />When it was dry this is how it looked.<br /><br /><br /><br /><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #e7dfcf; font-size: 14px;"><img src="http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b164/purpletoothtech/FeltedHat-01.jpg" /></span><br /><br />I liked it a lot. My daughter in law Anne loved it so now I am crocheting her one too.<br /><br /><br /></span></b><b><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-weight: normal;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #e7dfcf; font-size: 14px;"><br /><img height="480" src="http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b164/purpletoothtech/IMG_0741.jpg" width="640" /></span></span></b><br />
<b><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-weight: normal;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #e7dfcf; font-size: 14px;"><img height="480" src="http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b164/purpletoothtech/IMG_0742.jpg" width="640" /></span><br /><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #e7dfcf; font-size: 14px;"><img height="480" src="http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b164/purpletoothtech/IMG_0744.jpg" width="640" /></span><br /><br />I'm going to make it bigger than my first hat since I think my hat is too tight. I don't look good in hats but I am going to try to get over it since I plan to knit a bunch of them and I want to felt more hats.<br />My granddaughter Peanut asked for a hat so she is next on the list.<br /><br />The yarn in both hats is Patons Classic Wool- merino, 100% wool<br />The red/mix color stripe on the second hat is recycled silk from Nepal.<br />It is handspun by women's cooperatives from silk weaving mill waste.<br />It is very soft and has bright vibrant colors. I will put more stripes in the hat and I know it does not shrink so it will stand out. Should be interesting when I am done.</span></b><br />

May 27, 2008 <b>My first socks ever</b><br />

<div class="entryText" style="padding-bottom: 6px; padding-left: 6px; padding-right: 6px; padding-top: 6px;">
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif;">I am addicted to Sock Yarn. I have to admit I will spend hours looking at blogs or yarn store websites just looking at SOCKS. I love the self striping sock yarn. I only want to knit them in wool or wool blends since if I am going to put in the time I want these puppies to last.<br />Here is my first attemp at knitting a pair of socks.<br />Ahhhhhh don't look at my dry legs!! we are in winter in this pic and boy do I need lotion!!!!!<br /><br /><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #e7dfcf; font-size: 14px;"><img height="480" src="http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b164/purpletoothtech/IMG_0564.jpg" width="640" /></span><br /><br /><span class="Apple-style-span">This is before they were washed. I didn't know about SWATCHING so I just measured my guage after I had knit the ankle part. I was off but I said "I love this yarn and kept on knitting."</span><br /><span class="Apple-style-span">I later did stop and knitted a swatch, it was off a little so I learned a lesson. Always always Swatch!!!!!</span><br /><span class="Apple-style-span">These were knit on 3.25mm DPN's. See 2nd pair of socks below knit on 2.75 DPN's and story.</span><br /><br /><span class="Apple-style-span">So here they are on my feet.</span><br /><br /><br /><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #e7dfcf; font-size: 14px;"><img height="480" src="http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b164/purpletoothtech/IMG_0563.jpg" width="640" /></span></span></div>
<div class="entryText" style="padding-bottom: 6px; padding-left: 6px; padding-right: 6px; padding-top: 6px;">
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #e7dfcf;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: 14px;"><br /></span></span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #e7dfcf; font-size: 14px;"><img height="300" src="http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b164/purpletoothtech/IMG_0561.jpg" width="400" /></span><br /><br /><span class="Apple-style-span">They are a little droopy at the ankle. They have to be the most comfortable socks in the world. I knit them with Felici Self Striping yarn from Knitpicks.</span><br /><br /><span class="Apple-style-span">Now I am on my second ever pair of socks. I am almost done.</span><br /><span class="Apple-style-span">They're are for my daughter in law Anne for her birthday (7/1) yeah I'm early but I didn't know how long it would take to do 2 pairs of socks and a hat.</span><br /><br /><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #e7dfcf; font-size: 14px;"><img height="480" src="http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b164/purpletoothtech/IMG_0739.jpg" width="640" /></span><br /><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #e7dfcf; font-size: 14px;"><img height="480" src="http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b164/purpletoothtech/IMG_0738.jpg" width="640" /></span><br /><br /><span class="Apple-style-span">I am using Austermann wool yarn with Aloe Vera and Jojoba in the yarn to make your feet soft. They make your hands soft to knit them.</span><br /><span class="Apple-style-span">I don't like the color much, I am a bright color kind of gal, or an earthy kind. So I showed them to Anne and she loved them. She tried one on and loved it. But I let her look in my "Stash" (yes I already have a stash) and she picked another yarn for me to make a SECOND pair!!!</span><br /><span class="Apple-style-span">Well it's ok cuz I am having fun.</span><br /><span class="Apple-style-span">Yes I swatched this pair. The swatch came out a little small so I thought "I'll knit a little looser". LOL.</span><br /><span class="Apple-style-span">I am using size 2.75mm DPN so what I did was order a set of 3.00mm DPN's for my next set of socks. That is because I already swatched the yarn she picked out and I was still knitting tight. The yarn for the next pair of socks is ON-LINE Supersocke 100 and the color is Tropic, very pretty. </span><br /><span class="Apple-style-span">I like how these socks are coming out. I think I solved my droopy ankle problem with doing the ribbing all the way down. </span><br /><br /><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #e7dfcf; font-size: 14px;"><img height="480" src="http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b164/purpletoothtech/IMG_0569.jpg" width="640" /></span><br /><br /><span class="Apple-style-span">This sock has a different pattern for the heel. It is a K1 S1,repeat then on the wrong side you purl. The turn of the heel is a triangle shape where the Felici sock had a retangle shape heel (bottom). I am not sure which I like more.</span><br /><span class="Apple-style-span">I was able with this 2nd pattern to close up the holes when turning the heel. See my first sock holes.</span><br /><br /><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #e7dfcf; font-size: 14px;"><img height="480" src="http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b164/purpletoothtech/IMG_0565.jpg" width="640" /></span><br /><br /><span class="Apple-style-span">I will continue with this pattern for a few more pairs and then watch out, I am going to try a cable or some kind of interesting pattern (easy). Any suggestions????</span><br /><br /><br /><br /><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #e7dfcf; font-size: 14px;"><img height="480" src="http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b164/purpletoothtech/IMG_0740.jpg" width="640" /></span></span></div>

Of course when taking a photo of the books I am reading I must have my Bible there. I read it almost everyday. It's on the top right. My son gave me it for my birthday several years ago. It is a Life Application Study Bible. I used it so much that the cover was falling off. So I took it to this little book binding shop that restores books and especially Bibles. I had them recover it with a pine green lamb skin leather. It is beautiful and feels so soft.<br /><br />On the left edge is a reference book on stitches. My grandmother gave me this book probably 30 years ago. It has a lot of information.<br />Other than that there are a lot of pattern books and then the reading books by the Yarn Harlot. I love her books. May 28, 2008 <b>Notions</b><br />
<b><br /></b>
<b><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-weight: normal;"><span class="Apple-style-span">So the box of books and a few more notions came yesterday from Knitpicks. I put all of the needles I own on the floor to check out all of the beauty of these wood needles. I do have some straights that don't fit in the little box.</span><br /><br /><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #e7dfcf; font-size: 14px;"><img height="480" src="http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b164/purpletoothtech/IMG_0755.jpg" width="640" /></span><br /><br /><span class="Apple-style-span">Then I put them in their Striped Box. I love Stripes and the box is metal and I wrote in the lid all the sizes I have in DPN's and Circulars.</span><br /><span class="Apple-style-span">I know you can hardly see my writing but it is there.</span><br /><br /><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #e7dfcf; font-size: 14px;"><img height="480" src="http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b164/purpletoothtech/IMG_0756.jpg" width="640" /></span><br /><br /><span class="Apple-style-span">So I started the next pair of socks for my daughter in law. Her birthday is July first. I am starting early because she will get 2 pairs of socks and a hat/felted. I have started the hat, see other blog. </span><br /><br /><span class="Apple-style-span">I cast on the new socks while sitting at the plaza, outside at a table, in the sun. It is a beautiful day today. Warm but not hot. </span><br /><br /><br /><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #e7dfcf; font-size: 14px;"><img height="480" src="http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b164/purpletoothtech/IMG_0754.jpg" width="640" /></span><br /><br /><span class="Apple-style-span">I'm using Harmony's size 3.00mm DPN's this time. I think the step socks were too tight, they fit but they are snug. The swatch was asking me to go up a size too. Well ok, it was yelling at me to go up.</span><br /><br /><br /><br /><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #e7dfcf; font-size: 14px;"><img src="http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b164/purpletoothtech/IMG_0748.jpg" /></span><br /><br />That is my new sock cast on and a few rows done. And that is my knitting bag with all my Notions, Lovely Lovey NOTIONS.<br />I have the pattern, notebook, Ipod, pencils, etc. in the bag.<br />I keep my ball of yarn in a plastic bag so that it stays clean and doesn't get all fuzzy. I embroidered my name on the bag. You never know....<br /><br />Now for the bad news. I timed myself on the last sock I made. For one sock it took me 3 weeks and a day. There was a wedding for my son thrown in there during that time but I did knit at his house in Idaho while we visited. I think I am slow. I hope I speed up with each pair of socks I do. I read that some people can whip out a sock in a day or two. How do they knit so fast?<br />I have been knitting socks since the middle of March 2008.</span></b>Carolhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00751487491521233299noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5570784815747109103.post-38541405397725355882012-08-23T22:33:00.000-07:002012-08-23T22:33:51.944-07:00A post from the Past: May 28, 2008 - Fairy Wings<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #cc0000; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif; line-height: 20px;">I am transferring my blog post from Live Journal over here to Blogger. That was a special Halloween. My granddaughter came over in the evening....</span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #e7dfcf; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;"><br /></span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #e7dfcf; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;"><br /></span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #e7dfcf; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;"><img src="http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b164/purpletoothtech/Fairies06.jpg" /></span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #e7dfcf; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;"><br /></span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #e7dfcf; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;"><br /></span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif;">This turned out to be the last time my daughter Sierra and I could take Peanut trick or treating, because Sierra died 3 months later.</span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif;"><br /></span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif;"><br /></span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif;">So regarding the fairy costume, I bought the wings at Walmart of all places. First I tried to put holes in the wings with a flame but that was too harsh so I got some incense that was a stick. I lit it and then it had a burning coal at the end. A cigarette could do the same but I don't smoke.</span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif;"> </span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif;"><br /></span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif;">So I burnt holes here and there. The burning melts the edges so they don't unravel. And it looks cool. Then I got out my watercolor paints and I painted the wings with violets and blues and reds. The wings were a light green color.</span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif;"><br /></span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif;">After they dried, I put some fabric paint from a squeeze tube with glitter around each hole that I had made. Then when that was dry I sprayed glitter on all of the wings.</span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif;"><br /></span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif;"><br /></span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif;">The costume is a skirt made with soft fabric of purple and greens. I had a long ribbon waist band and sewed petal shapes to the ribbon, then tied the ribbon around my waist. Under the skirt I had on the tights and some exersice shorts. For the top I wore an embroidered tank top that had little roses on it and a sheer long sleeve shirt and then over that I wore a purple vest that laced up on each side, front and back.</span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif;"> </span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif;"><br /></span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif;"><br /></span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif;">I made my wreath for my head with wire and hot glued ivy and flowers, then added a dragonfly, bird, and lots of ribbons down the back.</span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif;"><br /></span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif;"><br /></span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif;">So that was my winning costume at work. I won a gift card to Home Depot for $50. I liked that.</span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif;"><br /></span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif;"><br /></span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif;">Then I kept on the costume and wore it to trick or treat around my neighborhood with my granddaughter, as me and my daughter Sierra took her around. We had a nice visit as we walked that night.</span>Carolhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00751487491521233299noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5570784815747109103.post-82287254888845826032012-08-23T22:24:00.000-07:002012-08-23T22:24:20.158-07:00A post from the Past: May 29, 2008 - New Knitting Needles<br />

June 1, 2008 MOTHS!<br />
<br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif;">Yesterday my sister and I moved a cedar chest to my living room. </span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif;">I wanted to put my stash of wool yarn into it.</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif;">I'm so freaked out right now. This is a cedar chest I got from my mom. I have had this chest in a bedroom for about 4 years. And all that I have had in it was photo albums and a few cotton doll dresses, a wool hat, and an old old patchwork baby quilt. The chest was pretty empty. My mission was to clean out mom's stuff and put in mine.</span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif;"><br /></span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif;">So today I brought out my box of Wool Stash to put into this chest.</span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif;"><br /></span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif;">I just began buying wool for about 2 months now.</span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif;"><br /></span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif;"><br /></span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif;">I opened the chest, and there on the wool hat was LARVAE. I am sure they are moth larvae.</span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif;"> </span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif;"><br /></span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif;"><br /></span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif;">Ewwww Ewwwww ewwwwww!!!!! Then I shook out everything.</span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif;"><br /></span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif;">I came in and washed my hands 100 times.</span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif;"><br /></span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif;">I put the stuff back in the chest and closed it up.</span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif;"> </span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif;"><br /></span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif;">My wool stash stayed in their Zip lock bags.</span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif;"><br /></span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif;"><br /></span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif;">I thought cedar was a wood that kept moths out. June 5, 2008 <b>My son gets married.</b><br />
<br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif;">For my user name on my first blog I picked idaho_bound because my goal is to move to Idaho before the year is over. My son, his wife and some of my family live there. I am in So. Calif. where a lot of family live too.<br /><br />I just need a big change in my life after loosing my daughter last year and my husband several years ago. I have my granddaughter living with me and I think it would be good for her to live in a small town.<br />We will have to adjust to colder weather. I think we will be ok. I get tired of the summers here that are over 100 degrees.<br /><br />Here she is at the mall in Idaho with her cousin.<br />My grandkids Peanut and Bryan.<br /><br /><a href="http://pics.livejournal.com/idaho_bound/pic/0000d595/" style="color: #e7dfcf; font-size: 14px;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://pics.livejournal.com/idaho_bound/pic/0000d595/s320x240" width="640" /></a><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #e7dfcf; font-size: 14px;"> </span><br /><br /><span class="Apple-style-span">And here I am with my kids in Idaho. The son on the left just got married and we are getting ready to go to the church.</span><br /><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #e7dfcf; font-size: 14px;"><img src="http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b164/purpletoothtech/DustinsWeddingDay02.jpg" /></span><br /><br /><span class="Apple-style-span">Here is Bryan and Peanut, Bryan is dressed for the wedding but Peanut is not. She got ready at the church since her dress is white. June 12, 2008 - <b>Still Knitting</b><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #cc0000;"><br /></span>
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif;">I haven't posted in a while. This week has been busy because it is the last week of school for my kindergartner.<br />I took some pics of Sally our new kitten. She is a busy little kitty.<br />Here she is on the couch ready to jump.<br /><br /><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #e7dfcf; font-size: 14px;"><img height="480" src="http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b164/purpletoothtech/IMG_0804.jpg" width="640" /></span><br /><br /><span class="Apple-style-span">This is Sally under the table attacking a crunchy ball.</span><br /><br /><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #e7dfcf; font-size: 14px;"><img height="480" src="http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b164/purpletoothtech/IMG_0811.jpg" width="640" /></span><br /><br /><span class="Apple-style-span">As for my knitting. I was distracted for a week or so with the scarf on the beautiful new needles. It is the scarf done in Kanui wool. I had started it and decided it was too narrow. So I cast off, and then cast on with more stitches. I had to set it aside to get the Socks done.</span><br /><br /><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #e7dfcf; font-size: 14px;"><img height="480" src="http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b164/purpletoothtech/IMG_0812.jpg" width="640" /></span><br /><br /><span class="Apple-style-span">I have only 2 weeks left to finish the socks and a felted hat for my daughter in law's birthday. I know I will have the socks done in a couple days. I can crochet the hat pretty fast but the felting takes a few days. I let it air dry after the machine washing so it just takes time to dry out. </span><br /><br /><span class="Apple-style-span">Other than that I did get a call from my boss yesterday. I use to work in a dental lab making porcelain teeth. It was so much fun. I went to school to be a dental technician after my husband died. So I had worked in this lab for 3 years but in March 08 I had to quit because my granddaughter needs me to be home. We are still grieving my daughters death. I got custody of my granddaughter late last year. I worked when I had her for a few months but I was killing myself. I can't be mom, employee, cook, cleaner, gardener, etc. I'm not married since my husband died of cancer in Aug. 2000. It's tough being a single mom again. My kids were all grown. I had the empty nest.</span><br /><br /><span class="Apple-style-span">So I was flattered that my boss would call and ask me to return. I know I could have asked for a huge raise. I am still thinking about it. He is even willing to wait for the fall when school gets back in. </span><br /><span class="Apple-style-span">I loved what I did. I loved working with the tools and baking porcelain, grinding the teeth with tiny tiny high speed drills. I was also doing digital design with the Cad/Cam program with scanning models and designing bridges and crowns on the computer then sending those files to be milled out in zirconia. I was in the High Tech department. I loved it.</span><br /><span class="Apple-style-span">I hated the drive from my home to the lab. I had to go on 4 different freeways (only 22 miles) and the traffic was horrible. I do not miss that drive at all. It could take 30 min. on a good day or 2 hours on a bad day. Average time was 45 min. I was ok with the drive before I had Peanut. When I lived alone. I would just listen to the radio and kick back. But when you have a little one waiting for you at after school care it is horrible. I just missed her so bad. She needed to be with me or with family after loosing her mommy. </span><br /><span class="Apple-style-span">So now I am home with her and I have more free time for my knitting and hobbies, also for errands and house work. </span><br /><span class="Apple-style-span">We go to church several times a week. Our life is full.</span></span>Carolhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00751487491521233299noreply@blogger.com0
